Brad's Thoughts
The popularity of Vintage Motorcycles continues to escalate, with many folks getting on bikes that have never even ridden before---and they're much younger than you may think. There is a whole group of 30-somethings that have discovered the retro-bike craze, riding street and dirtbikes from the 70's and 80's, and they're loving it. I think this is GREAT for the sport, and it's introducing them to the fun we had then, and that we continue to have now, to an entirely new group of riders.
And they're not just in it for the collectibility, they'are actually having lots of fun. It seems to me that too many of us are hoarding these bikes away--the favorite phrase is that you can buy it from the wife! Many still bring bikes out to rides and shows, but not as many as we'd like to see. Ride(and show) them, don't hide them!
On the other hand, I am seeing more than a few examples of various brands coming onto the market, from gentleman that are just getting too old to deal with their bikes, much less start them. It's great when you can find those one or two examples squirreled away in a basement or garage, otherwise the entire collection ends up at an auction, limiting our upside in them! Maybe more of those guys will start using ebay, and will realize exactly what it isn't. I am hearing SO MANY ebay horror stories, it's not even funny. But keep them coming, who knows, I may start another section to the website!!
Have a great summer riding season, see you at Mid- Ohio---Brad
